On 6 November 2025, Azbil Malaysia successfully organized an SDGs initiative titled "Mangrove Planting" at Pusat Pendidikan Kecil Hutan Paya Laut, Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal, located at Lorong Sungai Udang 1, 14320 Parit Buntar, Penang.
This activity aligns with SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by protecting coastal and marine ecosystems, reducing erosion, and providing vital habitats for marine life. It also supports SDG 15 (Life on Land) through the restoration of natural habitats, prevention of land degradation, and enhancement of biodiversity.
Upon arrival, participants were served breakfast to energize them for the day's activities. The event began with a keynote address by Mr. Kamal (Branch Manager for Penang), followed by a briefing from Mr. Ilias bin Shafie, Chairman of the Penang Coastal Fishermen Welfare Association (PIFWA). The briefing highlighted the importance of mangrove ecosystems, planting procedures, and safety guidelines. The activity also involved 10 members of PIFWA, including Mr. Mursik, a representative from the Penang Forestry Department. To reach the planting site, participants walked approximately 30 meters through the muddy mangrove swamp.
Under Mr. Ilias's guidance, the team engaged in a hands-on planting session and successfully planted 100 mangrove saplings. This effort contributes to strengthening coastal resilience, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing erosion.
Beyond environmental benefits, the initiative fostered teamwork and raised environmental awareness among employees. The Mangrove Planting initiative reflects Azbil Malaysia's ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Through collaborative efforts, the company continues to make a positive impact on Malaysia's environmental conservation. We look forward to organizing more activities like this in the future as part of our pledge to preserve the environment and support local ecosystems.
